Say It Loud Florida

SoFloNOMA, in collaboration with AIA Miami and HKS are hosting a SAY IT LOUD Exhibition to feature Diverse Designers of Florida in October of 2023. In line with our mission to elevate the contributions of women and BIPOC designers, architect, engineers and planners, we are inviting you to submit.

To date, our SAY IT LOUD exhibitions have been viewed by an estimate total 60,000 visitors since January 2017. From inception, multiple online publications (such as Forbes, Curbed and The Architects Newspaper) with large subscription bases have helped promote the exhibitions further expanding its impact. One featured firm expressed an increase in business which they attributed to being featured in SAY IT LOUD.

WHY SAY IT LOUD

  • Be part of the SAY IT LOUD international movement.

  • BBE will market and continue to raise the visibility of the exhibition from planning through execution on the website and social media.

  • BBE will also add the designers to the Great Diverse Designers Library

  • Based on your selection BBE would include your featured profile in future SAY IT LOUD's exhibitions in conferences / conventions.

  • BBE will submit the work of the featured designers to digital and print publications.

  • The ultimate goal of all these SAY IT LOUD's is to create a reference book that you could be featured in.

SOFLO NOMA x AIA NATIONAL '23

SOFLO NOMA x AIA NATIONAL '23

Our SoFlo NOMA past presidents, Naomi Harrison and Craig Aquart, presented at the AIA National conference - A’23 San Fran last month.

As co-chairs of the Black Architects in the Making program (BAM!), they spoke of the importance of going into the underserved communities around us to inform students about Architecture in the hopes of having a more diverse industry. They lead a group of 50 professionals through a BAM workshop ending with the popular Paper Tower Competition.

Thank you @BAMmiami for what you do in our communities and for the awareness you bring to the design industry.

Also, our SoFloNOMA member and AIA Miami President Amanda Barton was a speaker. Amanda, Project Designer at HKS Miami, spoke on leveraging integrative frameworks for resilient design to enable collaboration between architects and engineers and can be applied to projects of all types in all locations.
